Manchester United and England legend Gary Neville has voiced his deep disappointment following England's exit from the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup against Argentina, emphasizing that the manner in which the team departed the tournament was more painful than their elimination in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Neville stated: "Exiting in this manner leaves a bitter taste and a feeling of complete frustration. I was more accepting of our exit in the Qatar World Cup against France because we fought until the last moment and lost with our heads held high."

He added: "Today is just like the setback in the Wembley final against Italy, you score a goal and then hand the game to your opponent to do as they please," referring to the decline in England's performance after taking the lead against Argentina.

The England national team lost 2-1 to Argentina, despite taking the lead in the semi-final match, and will now face France in the third-place playoff, a scenario reminiscent of previous disappointments experienced by the 'Three Lions' in major tournaments.
